Reading Interest Survey

How do you feel about reading? Tell me about it.

I have always enjoyed reading, as long as it is a topic I am interested in. I enjoy getting into interesting stories or learning about new things that grab my attention.

What type of books do you like to read?

Fantasy fiction has always been one of my favourite types of books to read. The Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson, with its intricate magic system and gripping plot has been a favourite of mine. But it’s not just about epic battles and magic spells, I also enjoy the emotional and mythical side of fantasy. That’s where Madeline Miller’s books come in. The Song of Achilles and Circe, in particular, are some of my favourite reads. The creativity and imagination in these stories make reading fun for me.

List some hobbies and things that you like to do outside of school.

I love skiing down snowy hills, going paddleboarding on calm waters, and hiking in beautiful places. Plus, I’m a big fan of reading, and I find it super exciting to dive into all kinds of books. These hobbies keep me active, happy, and connected to both nature and awesome stories.

Who are your favourite authors?

My favourite authors are Madeline Miller, Brandon Sanderson, and Stephen King.

Tell me a bit about the last book you read that you really enjoyed.

I am currently reading The Lost Queen by Signe Pike, adding another layer to my love for historical fantasy. This book unfolds the tale of Langoureth, a 6th century medieval queen who was written out of history. The way Pike brings this forgotten queen to life just demonstrates the power storytelling has to resurrect forgotten voices from the past.

Tell me a bit about what you have been doing since last semester during your winter break. How have you been spending your time?

I spent winter break visiting with family and friends, relaxing at home, and taking some much-needed time away from responsibilities. Whether I was skiing down snowy slopes, whipping up delicious Christmas treats, or simply enjoying the comfort of sleeping in, the break was a perfect mix of fun adventures and peaceful moments. It was a wonderful time to recharge and spend some time with loved ones.

What subjects or topics do you enjoy learning about?

I really enjoy learning about a variety of subjects that spark my curiosity. History has always been an interesting topic to me; its important to understand how the past has shaped the present. I also recently found an interest in geology. I enjoy exploring the different rocks, landforms, and natural forces that shapes our planet.

If you could read a book about one thing, what would that be?

If I were to read a book about one thing, my top choice would likely be “Navigating Parent-Teacher Relationships for Dummies,” as I’m a bit jittery about stepping into the teaching world, especially when it comes to building strong relationships with parents.
